Just before 9 p.m. on a Thursday night, a 911 dispatcher answered a call from a man who said he had been shot. The victim was on the 200 block of Seventh Street East in downtown St. Paul. He gave his location. Then he waited.
Officers arrived within minutes. They found Adarius S. Glees, 27 years old, lying outside a building near East Seventh Street. A gunshot wound to his abdomen. Medics from the St. Paul Fire Department began working on him immediately. They loaded him into an ambulance and rushed to Regions Hospital. His condition, stable at first, deteriorated fast. He died before doctors could save him.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner later confirmed his identity. Glees was a resident of St. Paul. The time of the initial 911 call was approximately 8:50 to 8:51 p.m. Police arrived quickly. But speed could not change the outcome.
Investigators have not identified a suspect. No arrests have been made. Forensic teams and the Video Management Unit processed the scene, collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings. Police believe the shooting was isolated. They do not believe the public is in danger. But they do not know who pulled the trigger or why.
